Local MP, Henry Smith, has welcomed new figures showing that Conservative policies are helping onto the housing ladder.
· 31 Crawley hardworking families have been able to get an affordable mortgage and buy their own home thanks to the Conservative’s Help to Buy schemes.
· 173 Crawley families have been able to purchase their council house since we increased the Right to Buy discounts available to tenants.
Henry commented:
“The reason that housing shortages are most acute now is because new home building fell to its lowest level since the 1920s under the previous Labour government.
“That’s why, as part of the long-term economic plan, the Government launched Help to Buy and reinvigorated Right to Buy so that more people could get on the housing ladder. Since Help to Buy was launched, 31 local families have been able to buy their own home while 173 Crawley folk have been able to purchase their own council house.
“In addition, this Government and specifically the Conservative run Crawley Town Hall are delivering thousands of new affordable homes – notably the new Kilnwood Vale estate and a new neighbourhood now being planned for the North East Sector of Crawley. As such, even more local families will now be able to achieve their dream of owning their own home and enjoy greater financial security.”
