Henry Smith MP has received confirmation from the England & Wales Cricket Board that Crawley will receive £50,000 of funding for new community practice nets at Cherry Lane in Langley Green, despite concerns the money was to be lost if the project was not approved by Crawley Borough Council planning bureaucracy by the end of March.
Henry said;
“Following the concerns from Crawley Eagles Cricket Club, I’m delighted to have received confirmation from the ECB that the cricket nets project for Crawley will be going ahead despite unnecessary planning delays by Crawley Borough Council which could have cost the town and the Club £50,000 of funding.
“I’m grateful to the English Cricket Board for their understanding.
“I have been advised that work should start in the coming weeks, and I look forward to this facility being available for the community to use by the summer.
“Having brought this up in the House of Commons yesterday, I am grateful for confirmation that Crawley will now get these new nets – Town Hall bureaucracy has been hit for six!”
