Saturday November 21st: Presented awards at the Crawley Town Community Foundation National Citizen Service Graduation Ceremony - Congratulating our impressive local young people at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.
Monday November 23rd: Supported the Strategic Defence and Security Review. This plan aims to provide additional resources to our Armed Forces, counter-terrorism police and intelligence agencies.
Attended the Parliamentary Group for Muscular Dystrophy with Crawley constituents. As many will be aware, this condition is the progressive wasting of muscles, and the group aims to raises awareness of the struggles people face.
Welcomed news that Northgate Primary is due to be expanded. This will offer additional 30 school places (per year group) for local children.
Tuesday November 24th: Delighted to meet with the Institute of Family Business in Parliament with major Crawley and Gatwick employer OCS Group.
Wednesday November 25th: As part of the Autumn Spending Review I am pleased with the Government’s plans to set up an approximate annual £15million fund, the equivalent of the VAT collected on sanitary products per year, which will be donated to woman’s charities over this Parliament. I continue to support the abolition of VAT on sanitary products.
Thursday November 26th: Welcomed the news that 760 apprenticeships were embarked in by residents within Crawley over the last year (2014/15).
Spoke in the House to raise the issue of hate crime against disabled people to the Attorney General. This bullying should not exist and requires further tackling.
Wrote to Crawley Headteachers advising them of the Government introducing a national school funding formula for the first time. This follows a cross-party campaign I was pleased to be part of which called for a fairer funding settlement. Thanks to everybody who signed our Crawley petition.
Friday November 27th: Spoke at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Primary, Langley Green, assembly. This was followed by a Q&A session with the School Council. Then on to L3 in manor Royal who are expanding pilot training and exporting flight simulators to China.
