Monday May 23rd: Honoured to welcome NATO's Deputy Secretary General to Parliament. It's important the alliance remains the UK's primary defence partnership.
Tuesday May 24th: I opened the League Against Cruel Sports event in Parliament which is campaigning to end dog fighting. It is appalling that this practice is still performed in the 21st Century and it is usually associated with criminal acts such drug dealing and child abuse.
Once again met with GTR rail managers about the serious delays to services in Crawley due to signalling failure and an increase in staff sickness rate – this is unacceptable.
Wednesday May 25th: I met with the Headteacher of Manor Green School, Crawley, which currently received around £1million less in funding than comparable schools nationally. I am pleased that there is going to be a review of this as the old funding formula must change.
I called on the Government to support displaced people in the Middle-East, some of whom I met when I travelled to Iraq last year, in returning to the home cities following defeats against Daesh.
Thursday May 26th: As member of the new All Party Parliamentary for Bees, I am delighted to continue my support and commitment to protecting our pollinators. The National Farmers Union have applied to lift a ban on Neonicotinoids which have been found to pose a risk against bees.
Friday May 27th: Pleased to support Chestnut Tree House during Children’s Hospice week. This is the only centre of its kind in West Sussex providing such support for young children and their families.
