Tuesday August 26th: In Parliament to give my support for Guide Dogs making travelling by bus easier for people with sight loss. Last year I was successful in getting Metrobus to install audio visual next stop announcements in many of its Crawley route buses.
Wednesday August 27th: I’ve always been passionate about better support and awareness, but with my mum dying of cancer two years ago my support has only been re-enforced. Cancer awareness and so survival rates in Crawley need to be improved. That’s why today I was with Cancer Research UK in London supporting their campaign to make every moment count in the fight against cancer by encouraging everyone to join me. I was proud a few years ago to open the new Digital Mammography Unit at Crawley Hospital but there’s so much more to do.
Thursday August 28th: Good to meet with local clinicians and the National Osteoporosis Society at the Bridge Medical Centre, Three Bridges to learn more about Crawley's UK leading fracture service. Some of the best outcomes in the NHS and globally.
Friday August 29th: At Maidenbower Park Community Club in support of 10 year-old Ben's cake sale for Crawley's Olive Tree cancer charity. Inspiring idea, fantastic effort and delicious treats! Then on to officially open the National Citizen Service fundraising event in aid of the Golden Lions Children's' Trust at the Elim Church in Ifield.
Saturday August 30th: Delicious food at Crawley Mela international festival at The Hawth – but I think I ate too much!
Sunday August 31st: Great fun attending the Guide Dogs fundraising do show at The Plough in Ifield!
