Monday October 20th: In Westminster supporting the launch of Big Energy Saving Week - a collaboration of the Department of Energy & Climate Change, Citizens Advice Bureau and Age UK. With tax reduced on utilities average bills have come down by £50 but the project helps people take more control of their bills.
Tuesday October 21st: In the morning I visit Crawley High Street Barclays Bank branch this morning for the UK launch of their accessible banking initiative to improve services for carers and disabled customers in association with Carers Support West Sussex. Then in the afternoon I’m pleased to officially welcome US Congressman Mike Rogers, House of Representatives Intelligence Committee Chair, to Parliament. Discussing Middle East and global security.
Wednesday October 22nd: At Prime Minister’s Questions I was pleased to pay tribute to two of Crawley high quality manufacturers and exporters, Varian Medical Systems and Elekta Oncology. Then sponsoring Flu Day in Parliament with the Royal College of GPs. Vaccination take-up has increased in Crawley and across the country but raising further awareness is important.
Thursday October 23rd: Meeting with the Anthony Nolan (UK stem cell register charity that enables leukaemia patients who need a stem cell, bonemarrow or cord blood transplant) in Parliament. Supporting their campaign to raise awareness of the registry by including information on how to sign up as 700,000 young people receive their National Insurance cards in the post. Friday October 24th: Honoured to speak to the congregation at Apple Tree Farm Hindu Temple in Ifield and offer my best wishes for Diwali then on to Oriel High School where the sixth form and staff raised over £1,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Saturday October 25th: Have a go on the smoothie making exercise bike at the Crawley United Reform Church Autumn Fayre in Worth Park Avenue! In the evening I enjoy listening to the Songbirds concert at Hazelwick School in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice, Autism Sussex and Dyscover.
