On Friday I was at K2 Leisure Centre for the West Sussex County Council poll count.
I’d like to thank everyone who fulfilled their civic duty by voting, and to all electoral staff who continue to ensure our exercises in democracy take place efficiently.
My congratulations to all elected for their local community service. Bob Lanzer, Richard Burrett, Duncan Crow and Charles Petts will stand up for Crawley at County Hall as part of Theresa May’s Conservative team.
The general election on Thursday 8th June, however, is not about local election results.
Only a vote for the Conservatives will strengthen Theresa May’s hand to get the best deal for Britain from Brexit.
I know that there will be many Crawley Labour voters who supported their party’s council candidate, but have concerns over voting for Jeremy Corbyn to be our Prime Minister.
I ask that you lend me your vote June 8th.
The general election is about whether we choose Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn to fight for Britain in the Brexit negotiations.
The outcome will also decide whether we secure the recovery or damage our economy. Since 2010 Crawley unemployment has fallen to 1.7 per cent, over 1,000 jobs have been created on average every day across the country, there are 2.8 million more people with the security of bringing home a regular pay packet, and emergency services are returning to Crawley Hospital.
The general election is a choice. A choice between either Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott running our country while being propped up by Nicola Sturgeon in a coalition of chaos which would crash our economy, or myself and Theresa May’s Conservative team which will continue to secure a strong economy and the best deal for Britain with the EU.

Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Crawley
