Henry Smith, MP for Crawley, has encouraged local schools to stage their own Olympic Games with just weeks to go before the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Lloyds TSB, in association with the Youth Sport Trust, is supporting National School Sport Week which is taking place between 25th and 29th June with the theme this year being stage your own Olympic Games.
Henry commented:
“I would like to encourage Crawley schools to sign up to Lloyds TSB’s National School Sports Week which starts the week of the 25th June. With the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics just around the corner, this is an excellent way to inspire pupils to do more physical activity and join in the Olympic spirit.
“Last year 11,000 schools signed up to take part in this sports week and research has shown that 73% of pupils played more sports after taking part in the National School Sports Week last year.
“I hope many Crawley schools will sign up and take part in this week and combined with the visit of the Olympic Torch to our town, the Olympic Spirit will well and truly be coming to Crawley.”
