Henry Smith MP has nominated local amateur film maker, Callum Johnston, for FILM THE HOUSE, a national competition that celebrates up-and-coming amateur film producers, directors and script writers across the UK.
Henry commented:
“FILM THE HOUSE is a great opportunity for aspiring film makers of any age looking to find a way into the industry. Callum has submitted a short film called “Crossed Paths” which highlights extremism.
“I'm particularly proud that my submission from Crawley features a production from Callum, especially after other iconic Crawley films which he has written, directed and starred in such a as RH11 and Little District have been so locally significant.
“By nominating Callum’s film for the national competition, I hope it will help raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property rights, film and the creative industries as well as the broader issues raised within his documentary.
“It has been a pleasure to work with the event organizer, fellow Sussex MP, Mike Weatherley, on this and supported by the British film industry, in creating an opportunity for aspiring film makers to screen their productions."
The competition is designed to promote the wealth and variety of film in the UK. Categories include drama, thriller, action, comedy, music video, documentary, as well as a separate category for under 18s which can be any genre.
