Henry Smith has today welcomed the Government’s grant of nearly £3 million for West Sussex County Council’s highway maintenance repairs such as pothole improvement work.
Henry commented,
“The £3 million extra funding from the Government should make a real difference in Crawley to the huge number of drivers and cyclists who are fed up with having to continually battle against dangerous potholes, giving them safer and smoother journeys. This is especially valuable after the severe weather conditions that we often incur over the winter months which cause terrible damage to a lot of our roads.
“In spite of the difficult balancing act which the Chancellor has had to perform in drawing up this Autumn’s Budget - tackling the historic debt whilst cultivating economic growth at the same time – I am pleased to see that the Government still fully appreciates the severity faced by many local authorities who lacked the necessary funds to improve the fundamental road networks on which so many residents and businesses rely.”
