Today, Henry Smith MP welcomed the Government’s new Growth and Infrastructure Bill, which boosts infrastructure, cuts excessive red tape, and backs local business.
Commenting, Henry said:
“This new Bill is great news for Crawley and the rest of the country as a whole. It will support the aspirations of hard working people by reducing the bureaucratic barriers that stop our local businesses from creating jobs. These are exactly the sort of practical reforms we need to reduce confusing and overlapping red tape, which we all know acts as a drag on local business growth.
“By boosting Great Britain’s infrastructure, cutting excessive red tape and backing local firms the Government has shown it understands that the country is in a global race to sink or swim. Tough decisions need to be taken to ensure Great Britain is on the rise and this Bill gets behind exactly the right people – the strivers who are our engine of progress.”
Commenting specifically on Gatwick Airport infrastructure investment, Henry continued:
“In addition, I also welcome Gatwick Airport’s commitment to £2 billion worth of infrastructure improvement works at the Airport to ensure that it is able to maximise its existing passenger capacity, whilst ensuring that services can cater for new aviation advances such as the A380 Airbus. This significant investment will ensure that Gatwick will continue to grow as the business Gateway for London and to ensure that Crawley will continue to grow as an economic centre with falling unemployment and increasing business start ups.”
