Crawley MP, Henry Smith, has said he is “perplexed by yet more bizarre policies from UKIP”.
Just before Christmas, during a West Sussex council by-election in Haywards Heath, the ultimately unsuccessful UKIP candidate, described Crawley as, “just another urban mega-sprawl”.
Now the UKIP group on the County Council in Chichester have both voted to cut £5.7 million from the road resurfacing budget and called for a unitary authority covering all of West Sussex with the abolition of Crawley Borough Council.
Further commenting, Henry Smith said:
“Clearly local UKIP hate Crawley. First they insult our town and now their official policy is to scrap the democratically elected Town Hall, whilst all the while seeking to reduce funding for local highways repairs.
“Sadly such rude remarks and daft policies show their true colours. They literally have nothing to offer Crawley.”
