The Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang will be opened officially today (Friday, 9th February), with Crawley resident Brad Hall selected to represent Team GB in the Bobsleigh event in South Korea.
Brad is in action on Sunday 18th February at 11.05am in the two-man event, with the final on Monday 19th February at 11.15am, and on Saturday 24th February at 12.30am in the four-man event, with the final on the last day of the Games, Sunday 25th February, also at 12.30am (all times GMT).
UK Sport have supported Team GB in preparation for the Games with significant funding, including for Bobsleigh, and I hope all of Crawley will be watching in support of Brad’s efforts.
I am delighted that the history of Crawley’s participation in the Games will be added to at the 23rd Winter Olympics this month. Our town enjoyed athlete representation at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympics, and the Olympic Torch Relay went through our town less than a fortnight before Danny Boyle’s opening ceremony in our capital city.
Following the success of British competitors at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, I hope that we can build on this and achieve a sizeable medal haul in Pyeongchang.
I look forward to watching Brad compete and wish him and the rest of Team GB the best of luck in pursuit of gold!
