Monday November 26th: Welcomed the Government awarding Crawley Borough Council £1,158,715 to improve refuse collection by providing wheeled bins to residents.
This evening in my position as Vice-Chairman of the Trans-Atlantic & International Security parliamentary group I've had a very productive meeting with US Ambassador James Glassman discussing the future of the G20 and World Bank.
At the Rock the House event which promotes new British musical talent listening to a live rendition of The Beatles Come together from Abbey Road and Prince's Purple Rain in the formal setting of the Speaker's State Rooms is surreal (but pretty cool).
Tuesday November 27th: This evening in Parliament I met with an organisation called Hope & Homes for Children. Their focus is on reforming childcare systems by replacing institutional care with family-based care, such as adoption and fostering - a key aim of the PM too. Children who've been in institutional care sadly are more likely to achieve far worse at school and go on to troubled adult lives.
Wednesday November 28th: Honoured this morning to officially open Crawley based Varian Medical Systems' new research and development wing. Varian are world leaders in developing and making oncology equipment; exporting the highest quality manufactured medical devices to the world.
PMQs: Just questioned the Prime Minister on the Leveson Inquiry.
Pleased to have received confirmation from the Department for Transport praising the security of our local stations. It’s a testament to the hard work that staff and local police have put into fostering a safer environment at Crawley and Three Bridges rail stations.
Thursday November 29th: My moustache this morning is going and it's never coming back, but thanks to everyone who supported Movember to raise awareness of prostate cancer!
Friday November 30th: At Tesco Extra's Hazelwick store in support of FareShare, a UK charity fighting hunger and food waste. They redistribute surplus food to local community projects. Congratulations to Tesco who will add 30% to all the food donated by those generous customers
Saturday December 1st: In Crawley High Street to welcome the mid-point of the London to Brighton sleigh-pull in aid of Help our Wounded Royal Marines. Well done to Dave Lilburn and his mates for all they do raise awareness and funds.
Sunday December 2nd: At the ancient and beautiful St Nicholas Church, Worth for the Advent Sunday Christingle Service in support of the Children’s Society.
