Crawley MP, Henry Smith has welcomed the news that First Capital Connect has now introduced extra passenger capacity from Three Bridges Station.
Henry said:
“The news of extra passenger capacity from Three Bridges Station is excellent for commuters and weekend travellers. Passengers travelling along this line have endured three and a half years of disruption to services but now hopefully this will be at an end.
“As of the 19th May 2012, First Capital Connect is running Thameslink rail services through the heart of London again at nights and at weekends, offering uninterrupted journeys between Bedford and Brighton. Longer eight carriage trains are now running at weekends nearly all day long between these destinations helping to reduce overcrowding for those wanted to go up to the capital or down to the coast.
“Network Rail have also introduced a new upgraded signalling system in central London which will hopefully serve to reduce delays on the line.
“As a regular commuter I welcome this significant rail investment in Crawley and, along with the £26 million re-building of Three Bridges Station, the new regional signalling centre at the Three Bridges rail yard and this latest announcement, I hope services will continue to improve for rail passengers.”
