Local Post Office branches are at the heart of neighbourhoods right across Crawley, and will be enhanced following the recent confirmation of £370 million Government funding to extend opening hours and reduce queuing times.
Today, 95 per cent of small business customers can access everyday banking services in Post Offices; making it easier for SMEs to do business and contribute further to the local and national economy. Customers and small businesses rely on their local branch every day to access a wide range of services.
Under the last Labour government more than 7,300 post offices closed down across the UK. While since March 2010 none have closed in Crawley and less than 300 nationally, meaning that the overall size of the network has stabilised at over 11,600 branches.
The Post Office has moved into profit for the first time in 16 years and this extra funding brings the total amount invested in our Post Office network since 2010 to £2 billion – making sure the Post Office is fit for the future.
