Monday October 19th: Met with local constituents to discuss a wide range of issues, covering items such as the Chagos Islands, housing shortages and dental services.
Pleased to hear the Prime Minister reaffirming his intention to replace the Human Rights Act with a new British Bill of Rights.
Tuesday October 20th: Once again called for the abolition of Air Passenger Duty. The scrappage of this would significantly boost the UK economy.
Wednesday October 21st: Met with officials at the Home Office and Department for Communities and Local Government to discuss the devolution of powers from Whitehall to local government bodies.
Expressed concerns to the Japanese Ambassador over their countries continued practice of whaling.
Thursday October 22nd: Given the increased use of remote controlled aircraft and UAVs by civilians near major airports (like Gatwick), I raised my concerns over the safety and security risks of these actions.
On the floor of the House I voted for English Votes on English Laws. Given that Scotland and Wales both have their own elected assemblies I feel it is right for constitutional fairness across the UK.
Friday October 23rd: Honoured to meet with West Sussex Fire & Rescue C Watch Officers at Crawley Fire Station. Crawley’s station is due to receive investment funding.
Delighted to meet with local charity fundraiser, Trudi Bubb, whom is sailing around the world in a Clipper for Team Unicef, raising money for the Golden Lion Children’s trust.
