Saturday December 5th: As part of Small Business Saturday I met with the proprietors of Proposals Bridal Store and The Music Company with the West Sussex & Surrey Federation of Small Business on Northgate Parade.
Monday December 7th: Pleased to visit Acro Aircraft Seating, a Crawley base company, whom were presented Queen’s Award by the Duke of Kent. The company have increased their exports by 1682% over the last three years and doubled their employee base to 125 over the last eighteen months.
Tuesday December 8th: At Justice Questions I called for the courts system to be updated. Many of its practices are out of date and unfair. I am pleased that the Autumn Statement did detail an extra investment of £700million to help reform the system.
Wednesday December 9th: Met with Network Rail to discuss their recently announced London to Brighton line investment upgrade. This funding should help to reduce congestion for Crawley commuters.
Thursday December 10th: In the House I congratulated the Prime Minister on raising the unacceptability of commercial whaling with the Icelandic government and his continued call for a global ban on this practice.
Discussed with the leaders of Surrey, East and West Sussex, along with their district councils, the continued commitment to devolve powers from Whitehall to local authorities.
Friday December 11th: Viewed the impressive upgrade plans at Crawley Hospital for an enhanced Urgent Treatment Centre among other service improvements.
Delighted to open the resurfaced community ball court at the Checkatrade.com Stadium which is now a state of the art 3G pitch. The Crawley Town Community Foundation will use this facility for programs such as Crawley Capers, COGS and other community projects.
