Sunday January 31st: Pleased to lend my continued support to the NSPCC with their ‘It’s Time to Demand Change’ campaign. It is important and right that every child receives all the support they need after being a victim of such heinous abuse crimes.
Monday February 1st: In the House I was pleased to raise with the Secretary of State the latest figures that show the reduction of workless households in the South East has reduced by 50,000 since 2010. Within Crawley itself, jobseeker’s allowance claims have fallen by 60% and the youth claimant count has reduced by 75%.
Tuesday February 2nd: Welcomed an increase in NHS investment and increased services returning to Crawley. The amount of money available to the NHS will increase by £10 billion over the course of this Parliament in real terms.
Wednesday February 3rd: On the floor of the House I pay tribute to Evans Cycles, who have their headquarters in Crawley, for successfully promoting healthy lifestyles, less congestion and a cleaner environment.
Thursday February 4th: Attended the Tilgate Forum where many concerned residents voiced their concerns to Crawley Borough Council over the forestry works that are currently taking place on the golf course. Conservation of our park is key.
Pleased to continue to support various cancer charities on World Cancer Day. Many people are affected by this disease and I am grateful for the continued research and support of these organisations.
Friday February 5th: Very moved to meet with a constituent whose family have been a victim of sexual assault. February 1st marked the start of the first Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week which aims to highlight the struggles that victims face after such abuse. The Government will shortly be publishing an updated strategy to tackle violence against women and girls.
