Sunday February 7th: Spoke at the Chagos Islands Football team launch in Broadfield ahead of them competing in the 2016 CONIFA World Cup in Abkhazia this summer.
Monday February 8th: In Parliament I met with the Education Under Secretary of State, West Sussex County Council and headteachers to discuss fair funding for schools in the County. A new National Funding Formula is due to be used from 2017.
As Communities Parliamentary Private Secretary I welcomed the Local Government Funding Statement which stipulates that West Sussex will receive an additional £12.5m grant.
Tuesday February 9th: Pleased that the Government has confirmed its support for the NSPCC’s ‘It’s Time to Demand Change’ campaign which I raised in the Commons. It is extremely important that children whom have been abused are supported throughout their ordeal.
Wednesday February 10th: Chaired the All Party Parliamentary Animal Welfare Group which called on funding to continue for the National Wildlife Crime Unit.
Thursday February 11th: Delighted to hear the news that Network Rail and the Arora Group plan to upgrade Crawley Station. This project will lead to better access, increased parking, new homes built, green spaces, retails units and a business hub.
Friday February 12th: Took part in filming a video for B&CE employees which is due to be shown at their conference this year. B&CE is a non-profit organisation who look to improve financial welfare for those who work in construction as well as providing pensions for employers whatever their size or sector.
I met with constituents at my MP Advice Bureau to discuss a wide array of issues from the welfare system to the European Union.
