Saturday March 5th: Supported the Crawley Town Community Foundation, at the Check-a-Trade Stadium, for the National Citizen Service day of action. The project is delivered to young people aged 15 – 17. I managed to complete the obstacle course in 1 minute, 45 seconds!
Monday March 7th: Following an ongoing campaign between myself, Crawley teachers and our counterparts across West Sussex and England, welcomed the Government announcement which provides details on the consultation for fairer funding for schools. Visited Crawley’s Oceans Community Project which is based in Broadfield. This group delivers English classes, debt advice and other support to local people.
Spoke at the Crawley area Grassroots Out meeting. The British people have an instinct for freedom and fairness, the EU represents neither.
Tuesday March 8th: At Justice Questions I was pleased to get confirmation from the Government that mental health and substance misuse support has improved in prisons.
Wednesday March 9th: Delighted to welcome Decathlon UK, one of the world’s biggest sports retailer, to Crawley. One of their stores is due to open in the Town Centre creating 30 jobs.
Thursday March 10th: Pleased to thank Virgin Atlantic, CGG, B&CE The Peoples' Pension for sponsoring my Crawley Apprenticeship & Jobs Fair last week. More than 4000 apprenticeships have started in Crawley since 2010.
Called on the Government to support enhanced dyslexia teacher training to help ensure children affected by this condition or supported correctly.
Friday March 11th: On the floor of the House I raised objections that non-UK citizens in UK prisons, mostly EU Nationals, cost the British Taxpayer over £300 million a year.
