Monday March 14th: Accompanied Lord Bourne, the Energy & Climate Change Minster, to EDF’s smart metering headquarters based in Crawley as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
Celebrated Commonwealth Day in Parliament. It is worth remembering that the Commonwealth is the UK’s third biggest trade partner behind only the United States and China.
Tuesday March 15th: Delighted to welcome confirmation that the Government have provided £13.7 million to West Sussex County Council for highways maintenance for the period of 2015/16. In total the Government will be allocating £6.1 billion funding for local highways maintenance between now and 2021.
Wednesday March 16th: Pleased that the Chancellor’s budget will be cutting business rates for all ratepayers. Crawley has a number of vital small businesses and this will benefit local economic growth and employment opportunities.
Thursday March 17th: Spoke in Parliament about the very serious issue of aero-toxic cabin air syndrome that likely adversely affects flight crews. I am calling on the CAA to act and investigate this issue further as we have a high contingent of flight crew based in Crawley.
Friday March 18th: Met with management of Crawley Open House to discuss a variety of issues that relate to the work they do in the community.
I liaised with the Chief Inspector of Crawley Police whom provided updates on a number of incidents that they have successfully been able to advert. I am continually grateful for the diligent work Crawley officers do to keep our town safe.
