Saturday April 16th: As the former chair of the West Sussex Learning Disabilities Committee I welcome West Sussex County Council’s new Compass Card leisure discount for the 0-25 year olds with special education needs and disabilities.
Monday April 18th: I raised the issue of drones flying near airports. The particular issue needs looking into as it is only a matter of time before a serious accident takes place.
Tuesday April 19th: At Treasury Questions I asked why National Insurance figures for EU Nationals working in the UK remain unavailable. It is important that the British people have all the real facts before June’s referendum.
Last month, on the floor of the House, I raised the importance of a new Wildlife Act. I am pleased that today we started pursing this issue at the All Party Parliamentary Animal Welfare Group.
Wednesday April 20th: At Prime Minister’s Questions I once again raised the very important issue of the Chagos Islanders right or return given the President’s visit to the UK and the continued presence of US military on the British Indian Ocean Territory.
I am continually grateful for the hard work our border force provides at Gatwick Airport in keeping our country secure and was very happy to pay tribute to them in the House of Commons.
Thursday April 21st: I welcome the news that the Government is supporting greater competition in the telephone and broadband markets. Competition boosts an improvement to services, a reduction in cost and innovation.
In the Commons chamber I spoke about how the United States would never, rightly, cede power to a supranational body. It is hypocritical that President Obama is becoming involved in the British EU referendum.
Attended the Crawley beacon lighting at Tilgate Park to celebrate HM Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday. She has given years of remarkable service to our country.
Friday April 22nd: Pleased to attend a Q&A session at Hazelwick School to talk about my role as Member of Parliament, national policy issues, local elections and the upcoming EU referendum. It is always pleasing to see our youth engage in the political process.
